The Novice’s Handbook to Yoga Meditation: Unveiling the Benefits of Meditative Yoga Posted on By Yoga meditation requires finding a comfortable position that allows both calm and alertness. Without such support, finding mental equilibrium becomes much harder. Yoga meditation poses are designed to draw upon the wisdom of asanas for stillness and self-awareness to emerge. When practiced before, during, or after yoga sessions they provide the space for stillness to emerge and deepen self-understanding. Buddha taught four meditation positions without ranking any as superior. Meditation can be practiced not only sitting, but also standing, walking and lying down. Today we’ll examine four meditative positions and distinguish between stillness and moving meditation. While these poses entail minimal physical exertion, they do have physical implications; therefore if any bodily sensation arises that creates disruptive thoughts it presents another opportunity for cultivating self-love and empathy.
